wow so much happening with all the craziness of life :)
here are the wings i made for a 21'st dress up party, there are so many beautiful examples on the internet. The techniques however are not very well explained, plenty of examples of the simple type of wings are around but for the good ones people keep there techniques fairy secret. It's a childish thong i guess to make wings but i have always been fascinated with them.

A amazing example made by glittrrgrrl
and then mine.....
Wing shapes change when stockings go on, the original shape looked OK in wirer but didn't work in the end.

A person that i do not know that well was kind enough to nominate me for the Ballarat Council city of Ballarat youth awards. It was a surprise to be nominated and i was very happy.we went to the awards on Friday evening and it turns out i had won :) i was given a trophy like plak, it's very cool looking and it's a great motivator when things don't seem to be going the way they should. I was also given a check by center care. now the nerd i am i brought some SG1 DVD's with the money, it's very exciting i love stargate :D

Its spring or so they tell us and what better way to celebrate then a new veggie garden!
we have had a few in the pat but they were at the back of the yard and tended to get forgotten and overun by weeds. so this time i decided to make a garden box and have it visible, hopefully this will encourage this patch to actually survive!
The box is made from two cut up wooden pallets from the side of the road.

The dogs were a little too interested in the new dirt so some of the little ones are covered up untill they decide the patch is boring, or so i hope!

I know the only one who looks at my blog is my sister but oh well...... LOOOOOK i have a new niece Rachael Ava W.

They are not the best picture the lighting was dull and i was to excited to stay still long enough!

I am the first to admit that swimming is just not my style. However I don't object to having lovely swim wear. I particularly like Vintage styles. These are some interesting ones out at the moment. For Luna Swimwear. Personally i am more fond of the earlier styles but these are very cute!

A zombie ate my cupcake!

This little book is a ripper! The title alone drew me in, A Zombie ate my cupcake,it just sounds marvelous from the beginning. The book tells you how to create edible masterpieces of gore. Now as in most cook books there are a few recipes that you would need an art degree to pull off bet surprisingly %90 are actually doable. Thank you Lily Vanilli here is her blog page

I only got the book yesterday afternoon, but a guy in my class had his Birthday today so it was a good opportunity to try one. I attempted Rainbow Cupcakes.
Now don't be fooled making these made a lot more dishes then the run of the mill cupcakes. at least five bowls, a mix master and over trays. But all up It was totally worth it. word to the wise you can't use normal food dye you need the gel stuff that you can get at cake stores. Yes you actually do because I decided to test this theory and I used normal food dye for the red section...... exactly there is no red :( it ended up a light pink brown shade, not very bright or stunning.I had some gels already from my birthday cake.

The colors were not as vibrant as the book but the food dye was in softish tones.

My Place & Yours

This week the lovely Danielle wanted to know why you live where you do?
I live in a smallish post gold rush town with My Father and younger Sister. We moved to this house a few years ago and as Dad seems happy to stay here this is were we are. I am 21 and still living at home. I have not yet moved out or away as the margority of my siblings. Why you may ask, well I'm not bludging to much :). i take care of myn younger sister who has a disability, and i allos do the "womens work" around the home. Yep that's about all the reasons. I am relatively young and hope that in a few years if someone asks again i will have a more interesting tale.

look what i got today! isn't it marvelous? Sophia and i were looking at head phones and i came out with this.. It was actually a silly thing to buy at the time because it is heavy and it was raining out side and i had to tramp it back to uni. Oh well she was still totally worth it :D I got it at a really good price. later i was feeling a lil guilty when i saw a crappy one in an op-shop that was the same price so score one Katie :D

Do you think it will inspire me to clean up the sewing room?.......

I have enjoyed sewing for as long back as i can recall. I've been taught by my sister and a little by mum but mostly it has been a personal learning experience. I have made a lot of disasters and learnt a lot. I normally make clothes for my self as for most people finding a dress that you like and one that fits are two very difficult things.

Lately however i have been trying my hand at quilting again making a lot of mistakes but i am on to a new one and it's looking good :) here is a sneek peek

My Place & Yours

This weeks theme for my place & yours is: what's the last thing your brought for yourself?
The last thing I brought was a bag of potato chips but other then that i got this cute lil pattern of e-bay. i thought it would be nice to make a fun little summer dress or an nightie perhaps? something that looks better then the ones old ladies in hospitals were (no offense to those who like those nighties)

Drugs come with lack of wisdom or so it seems...

I had a wisdom tooth extracted on Wednesday, This lead to a whole lot of pain. The tooth or where it was is not the problem. my unknowing dentist moved my jaw when he was getting the charming thing out! this hurts!!! I have not been able to open my mouth more then a intch for the past four days witch suprisingly makes it hard to eat, thank goodness foe wheat bix! they slide down well :)On the up side today I've been to see a GP and he has given me a lovely dose of strong painkillers and muscle relaxants! he also told me to take the week of Uni witch is a bummer but i will hopefully be able to get a good amount of assignment work done.

slippers!

My feet have been cold and I'm not really fond of the designs available or the price tag of the ones i do like. So in the fashion of my Big Sis i made my own. the base pattern was from this lovely blogger. The ones in the tutorial's look like little dutch clogs, but they were to shallow for my feet so I gave them cuffs :)
The bottoms are decorated with a practical purpose, i used puff paint this gives me a little grip on the lino flooring.

My Place & Yours

Hello owls My Place & Yours This week theme is: Your favorite pair of shoes!
these are my
favorite at the moment. I love these kind of shoe their simple and comfortable, and best i don't have to deal with any heals that will make me trip.

I have put my
favorite characters on the shoes. Cyberman, K-9, an Odd, and an tiny adipose. Oh and ofcorse the Tardis .

Everybody loves cake

Hopes Birthday! yet another chance for me to have a go at a new type of cake :). This one was a master chef recipe and it was ok,...... the cake didn't rise properly, I believe there is something wrong with the heat distribution of my oven :( any way, it looked awesome at least and when it was covered in gnash i was told it tasted nice.

Now here is an interesting question... Whats on your fridge? playing my place and yours again. This is our fridge, it's always been messy. It seams to be the only thing in the kitchen that remains a constant mess!!

The first apron I made in this pattern was to large and did not suit my body type. I gave the first to a very happy Tori who was eyening off the apron as i was making it. They were both made from a sheet set of Mary Kate & Ashly, Who knew they had a sheet set in the first place? The two images are of the The 2nd attempt it fits OK it only is wanting in a slight adjustment of the shoulder straps. I have some sheet left and a similar cherry sheet that i intend to make in to a summer light dress.

Well i am both glad and sad that today has come to a close. i spend the day with my lil sister in Melbourne. the main purpose of the outing was go get her a key pass but we added some more pleasurable things to the list :) Firstly we went to the Aquarium! i love the Aquarium, tori however was more in to fluttering from one tank to another with the attention span of a three year old, we cleared the whole thing in an hour! when i go i will take around two and a half..... oh well it was still good.

Then we walked up and down Queens St twice in the pursuit of T2, we found it down Little Queens st grrrrrr lost of unnecessary walking! But the main thing is we got there and i spent only $3 over budget. The best find was a glass cup thing, i'ts awesome! you fill it with some lovely green tea and the glass is not hot!!! at the most i'ts look warm on the outside while you tea is lovely and hot!!!
