Vintage barges!
Beautiful "how to book" on sewing, because it was done in the 40's it shows a lot of techniques that have changed and that we all to keen sewers tend to miss then wounder why things don't sit quiet right.

These cups i feel in love with the moment i spotted them. i had my heart set on an similar 8pc sett but they where around $180 and obviously far out of my price range!!!! I got them from a "dear prudence" new lil vintage shop on Sturt Street.

And naturally i am always on the look for patterns! this lovey one was found on e-bay. I hope o make this in a nice light tweed. (the one with the collar and sleeves)

On a different note this week has been my first week at Uni! my classes are made of a great range of people from all walks of life witch makes for really good discussion.

as Australia day is on Tuesday, i went out to find myself a shirt to wear at work. i found a lot of fairly tacky but good shirts, they all had the same problem tho "MADE IN CHINA"
now why may i ask must all the patriotic shirts be made very un-patriotically?
so i made a very simple shirt today, (i am busy at the moment and really its only for one day)

see simple but made in Australia, unfortunately after further inspection on the tag its not made in Australia!!!!! just aus cotton very silly!!!

Wow long time no blog!
So a lot has been going on lately with work x-mas and just chaos in general its been pretty crazy.
So today at work I am talking to one of my customers ( I talk a lot at work otherwise I get bored and forget to say anything at all) and I notice her awesome (somewhat familiar)bag. Naturally I complement her and she gives me her card! (this also happens a bit)
So tonight I cheeked it out only to find that I know her blog!!!! I have it in my computer bookmarks and my current bag was constructed on the base design of one of her tutorials!!! Wow totally awesome! Today i met one of my heroes and didn’t even realize it

new dress time! made from a 40's pattern
the pattern had the option of long or little cupped selves, i did make the selves and the strange double yoke, but the effect looked tacky.I am sure that was due to the pattern on the fabric not quite matching the design. I got the fabric on a chuck out for really cheep!
i did want to make it in a floral green but the ideal fabric although beautiful was out of my price range.

(its not quite done in this picture hence the safety pins. i need to make a new petticoat as well)

the whole thing is pleated, that took me a few goes on practice fabric to get right. the pleats sort of go against the grain and become wobbly and curly if not absolutely center :S. so one of the pleats is terrible but I'm hoping that will be un noticed.....
