slippers!

My feet have been cold and I'm not really fond of the designs available or the price tag of the ones i do like. So in the fashion of my Big Sis i made my own. the base pattern was from this lovely blogger. The ones in the tutorial's look like little dutch clogs, but they were to shallow for my feet so I gave them cuffs :)
The bottoms are decorated with a practical purpose, i used puff paint this gives me a little grip on the lino flooring.

Everybody loves cake

Hopes Birthday! yet another chance for me to have a go at a new type of cake :). This one was a master chef recipe and it was ok,...... the cake didn't rise properly, I believe there is something wrong with the heat distribution of my oven :( any way, it looked awesome at least and when it was covered in gnash i was told it tasted nice.

Now here is an interesting question... Whats on your fridge? playing my place and yours again. This is our fridge, it's always been messy. It seams to be the only thing in the kitchen that remains a constant mess!!

The first apron I made in this pattern was to large and did not suit my body type. I gave the first to a very happy Tori who was eyening off the apron as i was making it. They were both made from a sheet set of Mary Kate & Ashly, Who knew they had a sheet set in the first place? The two images are of the The 2nd attempt it fits OK it only is wanting in a slight adjustment of the shoulder straps. I have some sheet left and a similar cherry sheet that i intend to make in to a summer light dress.

Well i am both glad and sad that today has come to a close. i spend the day with my lil sister in Melbourne. the main purpose of the outing was go get her a key pass but we added some more pleasurable things to the list :) Firstly we went to the Aquarium! i love the Aquarium, tori however was more in to fluttering from one tank to another with the attention span of a three year old, we cleared the whole thing in an hour! when i go i will take around two and a half..... oh well it was still good.

Then we walked up and down Queens St twice in the pursuit of T2, we found it down Little Queens st grrrrrr lost of unnecessary walking! But the main thing is we got there and i spent only $3 over budget. The best find was a glass cup thing, i'ts awesome! you fill it with some lovely green tea and the glass is not hot!!! at the most i'ts look warm on the outside while you tea is lovely and hot!!!

Yesterday i finished anther task for Make and Mend Month!
This Baby quilt was made by me for Hope my sister and her future Child (still in the oven). i used free motion quilting to border around the edges. this is my second time i have made a quilt and although it has many flaws i am proud of it anyway! and more importantly the future parents also like it :)
i used t-shirt iron transfers for the poo characters. i had the 9intention of using printed fabric, however i could not find any at our material stores and the on line ones were through the roof!. so i settled on transfers. I braught two sets one worked lovely, but the other one just didn't want to work and most of i'ts pictures didn't stick to the fabric and came off like mozzarella cheese! I'm not sure if that was a fault of mine or i just got a dud for the second?!
I made the quilt gender nutural so it cam be used for ether a boy or a girl, but honestly a baby doesn't care so it's more for the parents at this stage :)

I have been recently pleased to be listening to the Temeraire series of novels by Naomi Novik.
I am dyslexic and reading will often cause me to have migraines, so Audio books are wonderful!!! It’s currently a serious of six books composed of His Majesty's Dragon Throne of Jade, Black Powder War, Empire of Ivory, Victory of Eagles and Tongues of Serpents. I am currently up to Empire of ivory.
The novels are comprised both fantasy and an interpretation of the Napoleonic Wars..... ok so the author wrote dragons in to history, it sounds terrible and silly but seriously give it a go! It is truly a work of incredible art. “an air force of dragons, manned by crews of aviators". The books (that I have heard so far) are unique from each other. It’s not all about losing and fighting in wars but also includes everyone’s favorites, love, betrayal, pain, obedience and revolution. I must admit the advantage of audio is that you get expression by the readers that helps you get through the boring bits. Again give it a go!

My Place & Yours, Kitchen Love

This weeks theme playing My Place & Yours is Kitchen Love.
unfortunately i do not have my own kitchen , but i do consider myself to have some sort of claim on it, (i live with my Dad and younger sister). i am not overly in love with the kitchen it's just so brown.... but on a better note i do enjoy some things our kitchen enables me to do :)

see Brown....but i do enjoy making yummy treats in the kitchen :)

I'm on to a new project already, only because I am on hols and I'm trying to make the most of my time. I have two sisters that are currently with child and i plan to make a small cot quilt before they give birth. I have some compilations in this because neither of them has chosen to share the sex of the babies so I"m trying not to be to gender specific. i'ts given me a fun challange :)
here is the fabric for the first, very subtle and quiet tones.

Today i completed on of the tasks assigned from Make & Mend,
Use fabric you already have for any new project.

I have had this fabric for a while now, i got if from my Andrew as a birthday gift, but i was looking for the perfect pattern. Unfortunately the idea exists only in my head....... so i decided to make one of my favorites. I already have two dresses from this pattern so i knew i wouldn't stuff it or at least i was hoping i wouldn't. The belt is a bit hard to see, but trust me it works :) at the moment i have to wear the boots in an attempt to keep my legs warm, but i would usually wear a nice little pair of pumps with this.

I don't remember if this was an e-bay purchase or a garage sale item. When the weather warms up in a few months i want to make a similar dress to the red floral in the middle. i have some lovely green floral saved for the dress, but the fabric was at the end of the roll and i will need to be super careful with the cutting of the fabric to try and fit all the pieces in.

This week i have joined Make & Mend!

The theme is Make & Mend. The guidelines are as follows:

*Use fabric you already have for any new project.
*Alter a current pattern for a new garment.
*Repair/Mend 3 things from your ‘fix’ pile.
*Repurpose at least one piece of fabric.
*Make something for someone else.
This seamed a to daunting task at first but i think it is doable... or i hope so :) wish me luck and join if it tickles your interest!
